HOW OFTEN TO WASH YOUR HAIR – YOU REALLY CAN WASH IT EVERY DAY
Washing your hair every day will not damage your hair. It goes against all the theories behind “no poo” regimens, but it’s true. Find out why with our guide to how often to wash your hair.
You could wash your hair every day. In fact, a lot of people do – particularly in warmer climates where it’s vital to get rid of sweat and oil that builds up through the day.
But over the years, a lot of rumors have taken hold including that washing your hair too often can dry out the hair. People claim that by removing natural oils, you’re taking away essential natural moisturizers.
But that’s not true. The body is continuously making oil, so as soon as you wash some away with shampoo, your body has already begun replacing it.
We’ve been researching scalp care for 50 years (that’s a lot of heads washed!) and even when you wash hair every day, essential natural oils remain inside your hair and scalp, keeping them moisturized.

Whatever you do, wash your hair regularly
Some people do choose not to use shampoo at all while others use it very infrequently – but that’s not good for your hair or scalp.
Leaving your hair unwashed, or using water alone, for an extended period of time allows oils, sweat and dirt to build up.
These all break down over time into substances that can irritate and even damage the scalp. So you need to shampoo regularly to prevent irritants from building up.
Washing every day ruining your hair?
If you are washing your hair every day and it’s drying out your hair, then think about changing your shampoo.
A good shampoo with the right moisturizing ingredients will keep it healthy and well conditioned, even when you use it every day.
Head & Shoulders is one of those too – its pH-balanced formula is designed to be ideal for daily use.
3 times a week and you can treat dandruff
Our studies have shown that people with moderate to severe dandruff can be flake-free by using Head & Shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo exclusively, 3 times a week.
It needs to be exclusive too. If you’re switching between an anti-dandruff shampoo and an ordinary cosmetic shampoo, or even using a cosmetic conditioner, it won’t be as effective.
That’s because other shampoos and conditioners can remove the anti-dandruff actives left on your scalp, reducing their effectiveness.
So keep using our anti-dandruff shampoo. Use at least 3 times a week and even use it every day to keep dandruff away and your hair looking great.
