Key ingredients are carefully tested and then added to Head & Shoulders shampoos to make sure that they not only keep you visibly dandruff free,¹ but also leave your hair healthy, silky and fragrant.
Dandruff-fighting agents
zinc pyrithione (ZPT)– this is the secret to fighting dandruff and is found in all of our shampoos. It prevents the dandruff-forming microbe, Malassezia globosa, from forming scalp irritants. Head & Shoulders uses a unique, highly effective form of ZPT.
selenium sulphide– this powerful active ingredient is used to treat more severe flaking conditions; it is found in our shampoos for seborrheic dermatitis.
Our special ingredient: zinc carbonate– Head & Shoulders is the only anti-dandruff shampoo to also contain zinc carbonate.
Formulas with zinc carbonate fight dandruff better, because they protect the active ingredient, ZPT, and keep it in its most effective form.

Stabilizers
These are integral in keeping all of the shampoo ingredients “blended and suspended” in the correct manner, so you get the right mixture every time you use it.
